Why Should We Hire You?

Two men shaking hands

Anticipating what questions, you’ll be asked at an interview is one of the hardest things about being prepared. While you may be confident explaining your skills and experience in detail, candidates can often find it difficult to answer straightforward questions like ‘why should we hire you?’’. These questions are usually asked near the end of an interview, so making sure you master your response will be vital to giving you one last chance of impressing the interviewer and why you should be chosen over anyone else. This question could also be worded as ‘sell yourself’ both of which are asking for you to highlight your strong points and why you are the strongest candidate for the role. Your answer could include some of the following:

  • Your top skills relating to the role
  • Transferable skills
  • Years of Training/experience carrying out different tasks
  • Knowledge of the industry
  • Achievements

It’s important to remember that you want to stand out from the other candidates and show why you’re unique, but don’t let your answer go on for too long otherwise, you might lose the interviewers interest so summarise your best qualities clearly.
